Associate Attorney

Under the direction and guidance of the Mentoring Attorney, the Associate Attorney manages an individual caseload from start to finish. The Associate must be committed to achieving excellent results for our clients through intelligent and zealous advocacy, possess an exceptional work ethic, be self-motivated, and project a positive attitude. The Associate must have excellent oral advocacy skills, thorough writing skills, and be confident in the courtroom. The Associate must be comfortable working collaboratively with Paralegals and Legal Assistants and providing oversight to move the case to a successful completion.
Case Management:
  • Maintain an appropriate caseload and manage cases from inception through closing
  • Independently handle day-to-day decision-making on assigned cases
  • Develop case strategy and provide leadership and direction to Paralegals and Legal Assistants regarding case work
  • Regularly consult with clients and third parties to effectively move cases forward and to a successful conclusion
  • Perform monthly case reviews to ensure clients receive proactive communication
  • Enter client notes and billable time into Clio (Case Management System)
  • Conduct intense point-related research and analyze case-specific legal issues to prepare documentation
  • Prepare motions, briefs, memorandums of law
  • Zealously represent clients in court or in meetings with opposing counsel
Communication:
  • Work collaboratively with the team, including staff members at all levels of experience and knowledge

Client Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients to understand the facts of their case and goals of your client;
  • Delegate tasks efficiently and effectively to your support team to move cases forward;
  • Assess the urgency of situations and determine accurate and appropriate actions;
  • Provide options and solutions to various legal questions;
  • Review Family Law documents/pleadings; such as, petitions, summons, declarations (client, third party, attorney), parenting plans, child support orders, child support worksheets, responses, replies, motions, mediation and/or trial briefs/letters, trial preparation, etc.;
  • Research case law, relevant statutes and court rules, court decisions, legal articles, and other writings;
  • Attend hearings, status conferences, mediations and trials in King, Pierce, Snohomish and Thurston County Superior Courts;
  • Oversee discovery, draft court documents, and provide feedback to your team;
  • Negotiate settlements;
  • Comply with all legal standards and Rules of Professional Responsibility
 

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Have a deep knowledge of current law related to your area of practice
  • Actively engage with the legal community to maintain legal understanding and knowledge of changes in the law
  • Check in with your network by phone, email and by scheduling in person meetings, so that you maintain a relationship with referral sources both for Truce Law, but also with professionals that we can refer our clients too (i.e. financial advisors, lenders, insurance agents, general contractors, etc.)

The Associate Attorney must be licensed and in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association and is required to practice law following the standards set forth in the ABA’s Rules of Professional Conduct and Washington State Bar Association rules. Operations Attorney

The Operations Attorney will provide seasoned, disciplined, and effective management of the legal support team (e.g., Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Case Managers, Billing Specialists, Client Happiness Coordinators, and Legal Training Coordinators), including performance management, case management, employee relations, and administrative-support functions. The Operations Attorney will ensure that the overall operations of the Legal Support Team meet the Firm’s expectations and values, including case work quality and deliverables, staff performance, team cohesion, and client relations. The Operations Attorney will manage Client escalations as well as their own caseload. In addition, they will integrate closely with other departments (such as finance and human resources), other professionals (such as the Mentoring Attorney and the Professional Legal Administrator), and support the firm at large.

Case Management:

  • Assign casework to respective legal team members based on case type, team availability and strength of legal team.
  • Ensure data integrity and utilize case management databases and other technological tools to assist in creating more efficient Legal Support Team processes.
  • Identify training, recruitment, client needs/opportunities, and current trends that may be impactful to the Firm in collaboration with the Administrative and Management Team.
  • Communicate with Firm clients to resolve any client escalations (e.g., general concerns regarding representation, performance, billing, etc.).

Casework:

  • When giving direct representation, perform ordinary functions of legal counsel such as providing legal advice, formulating legal strategy, conducting client interviews, reviewing pleadings, and attending court.

Employee Relations:

  • Supervise Legal Support Staff and provide support to Firm Attorneys as needed.
  • In conjunction with the Professional Legal Administrator and Owner, implement and maintain Firm policies, systems, and procedures.

– Ensure the Firm’s activities are fully documented.
– Monitor and enforce the Firm’s rules to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with the Firm’s approved rules, policies & procedures.

  • Facilitate cooperation and motivate team members to accomplish group goals.
  • Training of Legal Support Team (both direct and through creation and review of instructional modules).
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing process for new legal team members, including assisting with maintaining job descriptions and determining compensation.
  • Ensure Legal Support Team complies with ethical standards.
  • Promotes mutual respect among legal team.

Performance Management:

  • Coaching of performance of Legal Support Team.
  • Attend Legal Support Team reviews and KPI meetings, and discuss salary increases and promotions.

Administrative:

  • Stay up to date on Firm processes and procedures, currently housed in Trainual.
  • Remain up to date on Firm IT policies and complete any required IT training.
  • Timely bi-weekly review and approval of matter invoices, including maintaining detailed feedback for team if time entries were modified, discounted or removed from a Client’s invoice.
  • Keep abreast of and present changes in the law to multiple audiences, including legal team and administrative team, and other high-level internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend relevant CLEs.
  • Consult with and contribute thought leadership and information on legal trends to support administration in hiring, marketing, and other Firm strategy needs.
  • Co-create, develop, and implement effective management strategies to meet ambitious programmatic deliverables and mission-guided priorities, including staff recruitment and development-support functions, employee engagement, and quality control of Firm’s legal services delivery.
  • Promote Truce Law by actively developing and maintaining the Firm’s relationships with other law firms and community stakeholders that have a robust presence in the Pacific Northwest as well as in the Operations Attorney’s respective city and/or region.
  • Offer new insights on challenges and opportunities, evaluate conventional approaches, provide and encourage new ideas and innovations, and explore and implement new or cutting-edge programs/processes in collaboration with leadership.

  • Minimum of 10 years practicing law in relevant practice area with experience working in a midsized (4+ attorneys with 20+ staff members total) or larger law firm.

Paralegal

The Paralegal’s primary goal is to support our Attorneys by assisting with legal research, discovery, drafting memos, pleadings, motions, and orders, and preparing for hearings, mediation and trials, under the direction of one or more Attorneys in the office. A Paralegal provides quality legal services to our clients at a lower billable rate than an Attorney, and by doing so, benefits both the Firm and our clients. Paralegals are required to meet the minimum billable requirements set by the Firm and report on progress toward achieving assigned goals.

Work is performed virtually and/or in an office environment. Temperature is regulated. Noise levels are typical of an office environment (e.g., phones, office equipment, light traffic, etc.). While performing the duties of this job, an employee is required to stand, walk, bend, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, use hands and fingers to operate computers and phones, sit for long periods of time, and on occasion lift up to 20-pounds.

Daily

  • Casework
    • Perform Legal Research

    • Work directly with Case Manager and Attorney to optimize case flow
    • Audit calendar deadlines and case milestones added by Legal Assistant’s to the Firm’s Master Calendar in the Case Management System to ensure accuracy andthat all case milestones are accounted for
      • Identify and resolve calendar scheduling conflicts as needed
    • Oversee Legal Assistant on assigned matters in organizing, sorting, and summarizing case information and files, so that complete client records are stored in our Case Management System
    • Manage personal workload by reviewing upcoming daily, weekly, and monthly appointments, court appearances and tasks.
      • Delegate overflow work as needed in a timely fashion

Non-attorney staff are prohibited by the ABA’s rules of Professional Conduct and State Bar Association rules from practicing law. All work performed by the Paralegal must be in support of and under the direct supervision of an attorney. In working with clients, the Paralegal must be careful not to inadvertently slip into the unlawful practice of law. This would include answering client questions about what will happen in their case or recommending that a client undertake a certain course of action during their case.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Marketing Manager to lead our law firm’s marketing efforts, with a specific emphasis on digital marketing. As a Marketing Manager, you will play a vital role in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance our firm’s brand visibility, attract clients, and drive business growth. This position requires a deep understanding of digital marketing trends, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to drive results through innovative and targeted marketing initiatives.

Marketing Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement an overarching marketing strategy aligned with the firm’s goals and objectives.
  • Identify target markets, conduct market research, and analyze competitors to inform marketing strategies and positioning.
  • Create a comprehensive marketing plan that integrates digital marketing tactics, traditional marketing channels, and business development initiatives.

Digital Marketing Leadership:

  • Lead and manage the digital marketing team, setting clear goals, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Office Manager

The Office Manager assists the Firm’s Operations Team by assuming responsibility for the physical office, day-to-day administration, and maintenance. In addition, they provide exclusive support to the legal team by processing, sending, and receiving time sensitive documents and communications.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Daily mail management (incoming/outgoing): Receive, scan, disseminate, and file incoming legal and business mail.
  • Prepare outgoing mail requested by the legal team, courier and ensure appropriate delivery to mail outlets (Post Office, FedEx, or UPS), and follow up with documentation of mailing.
  • Renew mail forwarding with USPS 1583 Forms.

Purchasing:

  • Subscriptions, training, licensing, membership dues, etc.
  • Routine office supplies and virtual resources.
  • Coordinate employee procurement requests (supplies, equipment, books, resources, etc), obtain management approval, and dispatch to team members.
  • Research and coordinate new equipment and physical assets.
  • Document and record all purchases across systems.

Oversee storage, retrieval, and retention of Firm records.

Review virtual files for removal (security compliance) or organization.

Ensure compliance with Firm policies, systems, and procedures under the direction of the Operations Team:

  • Monitor training platform (Trainual) for consistency with processes and policies in practice, communicating questions or suggesting updates to the Operations Team.
  • Register employees for conferences, trainings, and professional associations:
  • Facilitate continuing legal education (CLE) support requests from the legal team.
  • Research cost variables, monitor deadlines, and advise on discounts.

Coordinate meeting agendas and companywide announcements.

Assist with updates on branded and creative assets, printing, and employee distribution in coordination with third party vendors.

Support client relations with thank you cards and other initiatives by request.

Collaborate on employee engagement initiatives and events (virtual and/or in-person) with logistical support and communications.

HUMAN RESOURCES

Recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding employees:

  • Reference checklists in collaboration with the Operations Team to onboard new employees.
  • Facilitate account set-up and removal (Gmail, Trainual, Clio, Go-To, Zoom, Odyssey, etc)
  • Purchase tech equipment and supplies to be sent to third party (Fuse) for setup and/or to remote employees directly.
  • Monitor Glassdoor and other hiring platforms, and requests reviews.

Support the Operations Team with scheduling performance evaluations for Attorney and Non-Attorney personnel in accordance with Firm policies and procedures.

Monitor employee time off request process and facilitate manager approval.

FACILITIES & VENDOR MANAGEMENT

Maintain office technology and online tools (hardware and software) in collaboration with Fuse.

Develop and maintain hybrid workstations.

Manage online court record subscriptions (Odyssey) and access across multiple counties for the legal team.

Ensure maintenance of office equipment and furniture and coordinate delivery and installation as needed.

Research and develop new office locations as requested, in coordination with the Operations Team.

Research and manage office purchases (i.e. supplies, scanning service, etc).

Act as liaison between the Firm and the office space landlord to ensure maintenance, equipment function, and cleaning.

Act as liaison to third-party vendors, such as IT support (Fuse), phone (GoTo), and answering Service (Securitas).

Maintain documents and records, physical and virtual.

  • Manage the resource library, including all reference materials and subscriptions (virtual and non-virtual)
  • File hardcopy documents and periodically review for disposal or return to client.

Pay: $27.00 – $32.00 per hour
